Pi Partnership was delighted to support Professional Pensions – Women in Pensions Awards to recognise the depth and diversity of the talent within our industry. Having always had a family friendly approach that has supported women in the pension industry, this is an Awards event that is very close to our hearts.
The awards made here tonight not only highlight individual accomplishments but by showcasing the work of female professionals in pensions create role models for younger generations and demonstrate that success is achievable for everyone.
With equal representation at Board level and a strong female role model in Julia Tyrrell who helped establish Pi over 20 years ago and was herself shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement award last year, Pi was proud to sponsor Lawyer of the Year 2024.

Pensions law revolves around long-term management of large sums of money. Pensions lawyers advise on the creation, structuring and funding of pension schemes, their management and the resolving of any associated disputes in what is a highly regulated area governed by a vast amount of complex and ever-changing legislation. They need to have an ability to understand very technical information, but the best pension lawyers also remember that they need to be able to explain complex law in layman’s terms and help trustees and employers find a proportionate and practical solution.
Out of a very strong list of candidates our CEO, Simone Lavelle was therefore delighted to present the award to Amina Mahmood of CMS. Our congratulations also go to Miriam Kimber of the Pension Protection Fund whose submission was recognised with a highly commended.
These awards provide a platform for women to be recognised for their contributions to delivering strong pension governance, managing complex stakeholder relationships and driving innovation. Supporting such awards also plays a significant role in addressing the gender gap in pensions and financial security. Highlighting women who excel in the pensions space helps bring attention to these issues Encouraging and uplifting women in the pensions sector is an essential step toward creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all of us.

Pension scheme data cleansing goes beyond correcting member records. It involves reviewing scheme documents, understanding past decisions and addressing issues that can affect members’ benefits. From a professional trustee’s perspective, this article explores why projects become complex and how expertise, constructive challenge and timely decisions help trustees navigate them.

Good-quality pension scheme data is fundamental to effective governance, compliance and risk management. As systems become increasingly interconnected and AI adoption grows, trustees must understand how data is managed, shared and scrutinised to support better decisions and member outcomes.
