Adam Bartlett

Scheme Secretary

An experienced pensions professional, Adam specialises in delivering scheme secretarial and consultancy services to a diverse range of occupational pension schemes. He has a proven record working with DB, DC, and Hybrid arrangements, supporting schemes ranging from 50 to over 200,000 members across the UK and Ireland for well-known organisations.

Adam has served as Scheme Secretary to numerous single-employer trustee boards and to 4 large multi-employer boards, spanning sectors such as charities, independent schools, religious institutions, housing, and private enterprise. He brings a structured and collaborative approach to governance and has led both teams and departments to deliver against strategic goals.

Beginning his career in pensions administration, Adam gained broad technical expertise through involvement in high-net-worth member cases, GMP reconciliation and rectification, scheme take-ons, and wind-ups. He is also well-versed in member communications, having drafted scheme booklets and written wide-scale member correspondence. While leading an administration department within the Local Government Pension Scheme, he conducted a full communications review to improve member understanding of their benefits.

Adam currently manages a large, hybrid sectionalised scheme and provides secretarial support to another, overseeing the implementation of the General Code and supporting a buy-in project. He also contributes to the governance of one of the UK’s largest DC Master Trusts through Pi’s Secretariat services, providing meeting support to two key sub-committees.

He has developed a strong capability in explaining complex legal, funding, and investment topics in a clear and accessible way to trustees and members alike. He has also supported clients in drafting Schedules of Contributions and navigating trustee-sponsor negotiations around funding principles.

Drawing on his administrative background, Adam effectively investigates and resolves member complaints, communicating outcomes in a way that is informative, balanced, and easy to understand.
